During January, the technology proposals, totaling $634,441.78 for the 2010-2011 school year, dwarfed the $463,003 allocated budget. Due to proposals being revised or withdrawn by sponsors, the requested amount, as of Feb. 12, dropped down to $486,502.85, but still well over the budget.

With the United States' economy still reeling from the downsizing and collapse of the financial, housing, retail, and auto industries more than a year ago, it not surprising that Washington State is struggling with its own problematic economy.
The higher educational system will suffer as the state legislature begins tightening its belt on spending.

To many, Valentine's Day is a cheesy American holiday about impersonal greeting cards and boxes of mediocre chocolate. However, this lovers' holiday dates back to 496 A.D., originally in honor of Catholic saints named Valentine, and is celebrated around the world in varying ways - although in some countries, it is forbidden.

As the classroom becomes increasingly more high tech, the technology budget needs to be increased. Yes, we are facing budget cuts statewide but education should remain a priority.

We should fully support a $2 per credit increase to match the state average.
